- Set goals
Goals should be small and achievable. And when it comes to weight loss, don’t set a specific weight as your goal, but rather shift your focus on healthy eating habits and exercise. Once your health and fitness fall in place, your weight will start to drop.
- Cut sugar
Try to cut all sugar from your diet. And that doesn’t mean only sugar you add to your tea and coffee, etc. Start reading the labels of sauces and drinks, you’d be surprised how much sugar is in everything. Try to eat and drink clean – keep the list of ingredients to a minimal – teach your body to fall in love with fresh food instead of takeaways or processed food.
- Do not diet
Change your mindset from dieting and rather teach and train yourself healthy eating habits. The moment you tell yourself you are on a diet, your mind starts to rebel and starts “craving” everything you are not allowed to eat. But once you developed a healthy eating lifestyle, you will enjoy your food and when you have a piece of chocolate, it will be a treat and not a cheat.
- Drink more water
Put a glass in your kitchen next to your water tap. Every time you walk past it, fill it up and drink a glass of water.
- Start to move
Take the stairs instead of the lift or the escalator. And if you do take the escalator, climb it, instead of just standing and waiting to get to the top.
- Park your car
Take the parking bay furthest away from the shopping center’s entrance and walk as much and as far as you can.
- Get a tracking device
Yes, in today’s life, we need to be able to track everything. And yes, this will get you moving and motivated. You will be able to see what you have done and how much you still need to do. It will make you feel guilty when you haven’t done enough and it will create an urge to start moving and to start improving your stats.
